Hello my surname is Mijoc. Can you tell me the story about it? I´m from Argentina. Thank´s.
Joe Misurac / 4-27-2015 / ·
My father and his family came from Prvić Šepurine (kod Vodice) Our surname is Mišurac, and through church records I have been able to trace our name and our family tree back to the 1700’s.
There is also a surname in Prvić Šepurine called Miš. A story passed down through our family is that we were all Miš at one time, but some family members decided to change to Mišurac to avoid teasing. I don’t know if there is any truth to this story, but I did find a small newspaper article from Florida from the 1960’s that printed this story.

I’m looking for the Makovec family name. Maybe in the Janosfalu region?
Patricia Machkovich Mayhew / 12-27-2015 / ·
Your surname looks and seems to sound like my maiden name which is Machkovich, some relatives spell it Machkovch. We came to settle in Wisconsin in the 1880s. First the Father Stephen, or Stejpan as it is on his tombstone came with his 7 sons, followed by the wife Magdalena and a daughter named Catherine. Are your people from or near either Wisconsin or North Dakota? We know some brothers moved to North Dakota and changed the surname to Mackove. Any information would be appreciated.

I’m looking for the Mihoškov family name. The last known record I have puts them in Budrovac, north-east of Bjelovar. ActaCroatia states that the only Croatian households left with that surname are in Velika Pisanica.
Here in the US, my great-grandfather was Martin Mihoškov, born 1880 in Budrovac, his parents were Stjepan Mihoškov & Mara Lehinec (?). Both Martin & his brother Jake came to the United States around 1909. Martin had 3 daughters (one of whom was my grandmother); Jake died a pauper & homeless. As of today, no one that I’m aware of in the US has this surname.
Any help is appreciated!
