Ivan ANTUNOVIC (b: 18 July 1899 in Kozica; d: 22 June 1983 in Perth, Western Australia); immigrated to Australia in 1924; married Evelyn Beryl PUSEY in 1930 and had 11 children.
Father Joze, a shop keeper in Kozica village, died in the USA (most likely New York) around 1900-1920. He left Kozica and travelled by ship to New York; he fell on the ship. We know he died in the US and believe he died in New York.
My mother remembers seeing a photo of the “funeral” with Joze in the open coffin, with members of the US-Yugoslav community standing around the coffin. She saw this photo in the mid 1950s on a wall in a home in Kozica village.
Joze ANTUNOVIC married Maria/Moira PAUZICH – we are not 100% on the spelling – and they had at least 3 children: Maria, Ivan, Joze/Jose. Possibly two other children, Helena and Jacob. Joze/Jose (the son of Joze) emigrated to Argentina where he died in late 1980s-1990s. He lived in Dock Sud, Buenos Aires.
Anyone with any information, please get in contact.

(Ivan Antunovic’s granddaughter)
Your grand dad Ivan (nickname Popo) was a great help to our family when our dad Jakov passed away in 1958. Stric (Uncle on dad’s side) Ivan came to WA from Kozica in the same year as our dad. When he arrived the immigration people wrote his name as Antonovich instead of Antunovic. We ended up as Antunovich as they couldn’t understand the c ch pronunciation or spelling. Ivan was a greatly succesful timber merchant with saw mills all over the South West of WA. He supplied his Pontiac StratoChief car as the bridal car for my sister’s wedding and did many other things to assist us. I remember Helen,Susan Jack, Joe and Gavin when they lived at 89 Newry Street and I have seen Helen’s husband and boys at the Speedway. One of Ivan’s and dads cousins who lived here was Joko (pronounced Yorko) and another Kyril went to Argentina. Say hello to you mum from me. Kind regards Brian Antunovich 0417 123 959

Hello Darlo
I’m am very sorry but I have only seen your reply. Since I posted my message I have been using a genealogist (Lidija Sumbanjak) to research my grandfather.
I hope to visit Split and Kozica in 2020.
