I wonder if this is my great-grandmother’ surname. On his naturalisation papers, my great-grandfather reported that my GGM was from Slavonia. I’m having a heck of a time with her maiden name because it was recorded differently on every single record I can find.
So far, this is the closest I’ve seen to a phonetic spelling that makes sense.
She is listed as… Anna Goboric, Geburek, Gabrovach, Geburak… And I’m going quite mad trying to find out the real spelling.
GGF was surprisingly easy to trace to Bosanci (near Bosiljevo) in Karlovac. GGM is proving to be a puzzle!
