Hello, just stumbled onto this site. I am trying to trace my great grandfather who was known in the US as Peter Jalovich. According to this website the name was more likely Jelovic ?? According to the US census he was born in 1867 (birthplace listed only as Austria) and came to the US in the 1890s. The story I heard was that he went to Dubrovnik and got on a ship and sailed the Seven Seas and landed and stayed in Los Angeles. Visited Croatia twice last year and love the country so very interested in learning more about family.
