Long ago, lol, when my ancestors came to Canada, they changed the spelling of JUKIĆ to YUKICH so that people wouldn’t mispronounce it…
Would love to know more about this surname, if anyone has any info please post something.

Hello. In Croatia 🇭🇷, Jukic are Ocean 🌊 folk. Sea really. Many were fishermen (in ancient times many were warriors and pirates🙂)🤷🏻♀️(Every ancestry has some criminals) and more inland they were farmers, herders (each family havin their own ‘call’ for livestock), holistic practitioners and winemakers.
The region Jukic tends to populate in Croatia is from Dubrovnik, into Split and then down to Zadar.
All Jukic came to this region as tribal and martyred warriors.

My ancestors also came to sault st e marie Ontario Canada and as a grandchild only knew the spelling as Yukich. This is news to me that the proper Croatian spelling by is Jukic!
