Trying to trace an ancestor’s parents born in Croatia. His name was Stefano (Posic, Powscich). His name was spelt many different ways. He was transported as a convict from England to Australia in the early 1800’s. Was a sailor. He was born to Croatian parents in Palermo. Father’s first name not known but his mother’s name was Catherine or Katherine or Katerina. I know there is not much to go on but thought his last name was probably Pacic. You never know someone might have some information.
My grandfather Ladislav Pacic (1879-1959) was born in Vranov Dol, Croatia near Jastrebarsko, and his baptism records are from the nearby Plesivica RC church. He had several siblings. He and everal immigrated to the U.S. in the early 20th century, and most of his descendants/siblings descendants live in Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Albion, Michigan areas today with revised surnames such as Pasick, Pasic, Passic, and Passick. The Kalamazoo Pacic’s kept the original surname.
