Hi, my grandmother, Lucille Stanich ( maiden name) came from Croatia, her parents settled in Kansas City, Kansas. She made povitisca by hand. Trying to do my family tree. Her parents were Joseph Stanich ( Stanic) and Francis ( cant find maiden name).
My grandmother, Lucille Stanich married my grandfather Adam Kreisman ( german from russia).
My last name is Snatic. My Great Grandfather came from Europe in the late 1800s to the U S through New York. I’m wondering if his name was changed to Snatic.
My Grandfather came from Croatia His last name was Stanic but changed it to Barbic and now it is Barbich.
Not sure why
My grandma was adopted in Croatia by Frank Kovacic and his wife.
Subsequently, my grandma gave birth to many children from Frank Kovacic.
Steven Stanich or Kovacic was born in farming town between Austria and Hungary at a hospital.
Frances remained in Croatia for several years still be raised by her adopted mother as well a raising her son
She moved to Gary, Indiana after Frank’s tavern in Fox River Grove, Illinois.
She was 13 when she birthed son Steven.
Not much more was said about her other than she was adopted at age three
Frank was removed from village/town bcz of impregnating my grandmother. He remained on Ellis Island for a few year and impregnated a 12 year old girl who died in childbirth, leaving him with Magdeline, my half aunt.
