My grandfather was Anthony Vrbanac. He came from Croatia in the late 1800s to southwestern Pennsylvania, where the name became Verbonitz. I was wondering if anyone knows of this family’s roots in Croatia.
my great-great grandfather was Steve Verbanac. He came over from Croatia around 1910 and settled in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. (Hancock/Houghton) He became a copper miner.
My Vrbanac line comes from Gorski Kotar region. Particularly, Lukovdol area. I don’t know where they originate from, though I have all kinds of genealogy for the different lines that lived in Podvućnik, next to Lukovdol.
