after working with slavs from all different parts of the world, I have this understanding
croat/serb/bosnian/crna goran/makedonian/dalmatian/bulgarian endings depend upon birth place and the regional dialect of a given area…. bartol is the base name, bartolic westernized with a phonetic H added), is most likelly Adriatic, enetian, dalmatian regional, the bartOlovic and bartUlovic are dialectually influenced differences (accents), and would be more inland based (the O originating toward bularia/serbia, the U being slovenian/croatian. do not forget the “itch” ending for jewish.
