From my research nearly all people called Buzancic come from the village of Lećevica, near Split and they are descended from the Despotovic family and thus have a noble origin. The family is first mentioned in Lecevica in 1755-1757, they were not there in 1711 when a Venetian census happened then. (Information from “Prezimena Opcine Lecevica” by Ante Ivankovic, Split 2007)
The Buzanczyk/Burzanczyk family of Poland are descended from Luka Buzancic who left Lećevica to work in Vienna and met a Polish girl and married her. The surname was then change to better suit the Polish language.
