My grandmother was Katherine Katie Matijasic Puskarich. She was the oldest of 7 children from Oqulin, Croatia. She and her father, Ivan Matijasic, both came over on a boat from Croatia, to Duquesne, (Pittsburgh), PA.
Ivan stayed in Duquesne, Pa until he died Oct 6, 1943. He worked for the Duquesne Steel Works. My grandfather, George Puskarich was on the same ship as my grandmother and her father. Being that they were both from the same area in Croatia, my grandmother’s dad, Ivan, arranged for their marriage.
My grandmother and grandfather traveled and settled East to Weirton, WV where my grandfather worked for Weirton Steel. They also had 7 children.
