My family name was originally Poljak. It appears my family dates back to 1900; when my great-grandparents Katarina and Tomasina sent their 3 sons to the USA from Grzcaki.Ivan Poljak, one of the boys, was my grandfather.
Hi Joe,
We may go way way back. My grandfather, Ivan (John) Miholovich’s grandmother was Katerina (sp?) Poljak. My grandfather was from Lepetane, Boka Kotorska along the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, former Yugoslavia which was AustriaHungary back then. He had 3 brothers. His father was Matthew Miholovich. Their father Vogdan (or Bogdan) was married to Katarina Poljak. This was probably 1830’s or around that time in which they married.

Hi, Rita. I am Joe’s sister. We have done more searching and this is what we found out. The three boys parents were Mijo Poljak and Tana Matesa. Her parents were from Karlovac, Yugoslavia They were Math Matesa and Anna Beric. Mijo and Tana were born early 1870″s.It could be possible that Katerina was Mijo’s sister.
I am Joe’s sister. We have done more research and since found out that our great grandfather was Mijo Poljak and his wife was Jana Poljak. Mijo came here first, then his wife and finally the three boys came later with a relative
Its Gršćaki not Grzcaki and Boka Kotorska is Croatia in the past
